OLIMAX (ECOMOZ) — copra oil factory

From copra bought in the field to shipped oil: batches, yield, acidity (FFA) and transport traced in FAMS.

Problem

OLIMAX buys copra in the field and at the factory gate, turns it into oil on several lines, stores it in tanks and ships it in trucks and containers. It needed to know, per batch, where the copra came from, how much oil it yielded, at what quality and where it went.

Solution

OLIMAX was the first client to contract FAMS directly, without donor funding. The system went live in 2024 for copra purchases in the field and at the factory, with oil quality analysis (FFA), and is still in use today; in 2025 came oil output per line, tanks and transport (truck, container, shipping date and weight). In September 2026 copra production became its own module, with redesigned batch traceability, factory reports and a dashboard block. Improvements continue on the traceability reports and the impact dashboard with metrics.

Technical decisions

  1. 01

    Expected yield set per company

The Super Admin sets the factory's expected yield range (minimum and maximum, in %). Without it the installation setting applies and, failing that, the median of past production with a 10-point margin. Batches outside the range are flagged in reports and on the dashboard.

  2. 02

Impossible acidity readings stay out of averages

FFA values outside 0–100% are flagged and left out of averages, so a typo does not distort the reported quality.

  3. 03

One page to follow a batch

Scan or type the batch code to see its status, line, dates, incoming copra, oil, yield and FFA, the path with its source areas and, in tabs, waybills, purchases, tanks and measurements — with print, Excel and PDF.

  4. 04

Copra production apart from shared stock

Copra production became its own module (production control, traceability and reports), separate from the stock management other clients also use.

What I learned

A client paying directly wants numbers it can trust. Flagging what falls outside expectations — yield, acidity — was worth more than adding charts.

SDGs

  • SDG 2 · Zero Hungerprimary

Copra purchases are linked to their source areas and the farmers who sold, recording what each delivered, in the field and at the factory gate.

  • SDG 12 · Responsible Consumption and Productionprimary

Batch, yield, acidity (FFA) and shipping stay traced from the field to the shipped oil, cutting losses and inconsistencies across production lines and tanks.

  • SDG 8 · Decent Work and Economic Growthcomplementary

Purchases recorded in the system since 2024, at the first client to contract FAMS directly, without donor funding.
